Can we mix food colouring with white emulsion?
my MIL is painting a room and says she is struggling to afford the paint i said to her its cheaper to paint the rooms white her husband suggested putting food colouring into white paint! would this work??
I don't think so...
BUT, have you considered water color paint?
they make nice interior wall colors, there are tons to choose from and a tube of water color paint is pretty cheap in comparison to color paint. Just use a good water color paint brand like Windsor Newton or like.
though, know some water colors may not be color fast or light fast (they may fade or come off to the touch once mixed with interior wall paint and applied to the walls.) And, Of course you don't want to use on exterior walls or in a bathroom or in a high humidity spot. unless you want a psycholdelic effect.
Also, note: some are made from poisonous pigments so ask a knowledgable sales person (or better, the manufacturer).
good luck*
